Peter Mihalakakos, M.D.
“Dr. Peter” Mihalakakos attended the University of Illinois at Champaign Urbana graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 1988. He received his MD from the Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in 1992. Dr. Peter completed his general surgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center in 1997. He is a board certified general surgeon, Diplomate of the American Board of Surgery, and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Peter joined Family Medical Group in July of 1997. He is the current Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center. Dr. Peter is a general surgeon specializing in advanced laparoscopic surgery and bariatric (weight loss) surgery.
Brian J. Winkleman, M.D.
Dr. Winkleman is Board Certified in General Surgery and specializes in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery. He is a graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine and completed a Residency in General Surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center. He also completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive, Robotic, and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Winkleman performs a variety of laparoscopic procedures including hernia repair, anti-reflux operations, solid organ and colon resection. He specializes in laparoscopic gastric banding, gastric bypass, and sleeve gastrectomy. He is affiliated with The Center for Weight Loss and Surgery at Presence St. Joseph's Medical Center.

Michael Waszak, M.D.
Dr. Waszak attended University of Illinois in Chicago for his undergraduate degree and received his MD at Rush Medical College in Chicago. During his internship at Resurrection, he received the “Intern of the Year” award. He completed his Family Practice residency at Resurrection Hospital. He joined Family Medical Group in July of 1988. Dr. Waszak is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice.
Sergei Kravets, M.D.
Dr. Kravets attended the Vinnitsa Medical Institute in Vinnitsa, Ukraine where he received his combined undergraduate and MD. He completed his Family Practice residency at the University of IL Ravenswood Hospital Medical Center in June of 1997. Dr. Kravets is board certified by the American Board of Family Practice. He joined Family Medical Group in July of 1997.
Karla Shively, D.O.
Dr. Shively attended Lewis University where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She attended Chicago Osteopathic Medical School and graduated with her Doctor of Osteopathy in 1993. She completed her internship and residency in Family Practice at the Chicago Osteopathic Hospitals and Medical Centers in Chicago. Dr. Shively is Board Certified in Family Practice and a member of the American Osteopathic Association. She joined Family Medical Group in May 1999.
Gary M. Trager, M.D.
Dr. Trager attended the University of Illinois where he earned his undergraduate degree in Biology with High Honors and Distinction. He attended the University Of Illinois College Of Medicine in Chicago and graduated with a medical degree with honors. He completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine as well as his fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the University of Illinois Hospital in Chicago. He is board certified by the National Board of Examiners, American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Infectious Diseases. He is a member of the Infectious Disease Society of America as well as a fellow with the American College of Physicians. Dr. Trager has been practicing medicine in Joliet since 1980, and joined Family Medical Group in February of 2003.
